Abstract

This project will take a deep dive into the Chinese government's response to the coronavirus outbreak. The project will cover all different parts of the COVID-19 response timeline, from the initial outbreak all the way through vaccine development and other parts from late 2022. The project will include analysis of specific policy responses such as rapid containment, testing and how it fared compared to other countries that handled COVID-19 differently. This will also examine whether or not the Chinese government's response was ethically justifiable by looking at core biological principles, and suggest what could have been done instead from an ethical perspective.
