Abstract

Mesothelioma, originating from the mesothelial cells lining the pleural, peritoneal, and pericardial cavities, presents a formidable challenge in oncology due to its prevalence and complex molecular landscape. Despite advancements in diagnosis and treatment, patient prognosis remains poor, highlighting the urgent need for deeper exploration into the molecular mechanisms driving this aggressive cancer. Genomic profiling has emerged as a powerful tool in cancer research, offering insights into genetic alterations, gene expression patterns, and molecular subtypes that influence tumor development, progression, and treatment response. This paper explores the role of genomic profiling in unraveling the complexity of mesothelioma, focusing on its potential to identify personalized therapeutic strategies, novel therapeutic targets, and biomarkers for prognosis and treatment response. By analyzing the genetic makeup of mesothelioma tumors, genomic profiling provides a comprehensive solution to decipher the heterogeneity of this disease, paving the way for improved diagnostic criteria, targeted therapies, and predictive accuracy. Furthermore, genomic profiling offers a unique opportunity to shed light on the mechanisms underlying therapeutic resistance, thereby informing the development of innovative therapeutic approaches to overcome treatment resistance. This abstract provides a brief overview of the current state of genomic profiling in mesothelioma research, emphasizing key findings, challenges, and future directions in this rapidly evolving field.
