Abstract

The son of a teacher at an exclusive preparatory school has to learn how to navigate through a world of wealth and prestige. Because he doesn’t come from a family of unlimited disposable income, he is quickly ostracized from the school’s popular friend groups. Wanting to fit in, he strategizes possibilities to gain entry into the school’s prestigious social circle. The stress of fitting in forces him to take drastic actions, including using his parents’ financial savings, unbeknownst to them, to rent a mansion in an effort to appear well off.
