Electric Vehicle Battery Benefits and Harms

Abstract

In recent years, electric vehicles have become more common. Some of the parts within electric vehicles differ from gas cars; this paper focuses on electric batteries, with the most common being lithium-ion batteries. While the benefits of electric batteries are widely discussed, the challenges these batteries present for the environment are rarely mentioned in public discourse. In this review article, the manufacturing process of electric batteries is considered, along with an analysis of how materials are consumed during production. This paper will cover electric batteries in electric vehicles and their harms and benefits to the environment, and possible improvements are noted in the conclusion.
