The journey to a successful career in surgery goes beyond mastering technical skills – it requires a "Surgical Mindset." This concept focuses on how non-technical factors contribute to achieving success in the demanding field of surgery. Insights gathered from surgeons highlight the challenges they encounter in their daily work environments. Through self-report surveys, this research evaluates three critical domains that shape a strong surgical mindset: communication and teamwork skills, resilience, and work-life balance. Aspiring surgeons can use these findings to understand the vital mental and emotional skills needed for long-term success in the profession.
