Abstract

Donald J Trump, 45th president of the United States of America, has both taken advantage of and perpetuated racism towards all minority ethnic groups, worsening race relations particularly for Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans, and Muslim/African Americans. Trump used a xenophobic campaign to paint himself as the defender of those fearing demographic change, or that Whites are under siege by the growing racial diversity. After being elected, Trump proceeded to reinforce these sentiments. Trump’s racist rhetoric and policy actions have caused the emboldening effect, reinforced the spread of white supremacist groups, and increased minorities’ experiences of racialized violence.
