Abstract

In recent times there has been a rapid increase in innovation and demand for power-generating devices on a microscale, and the technology leading this is triboelectric nanogenerators. This research paper is a comprehensive review and analysis of the evolution of triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs). This paper will take a look at Research published in the previous 10 years primarily focusing on materials and applications of TENGs.  The motivation for conducting new research arises from the necessity to enhance the performance and efficiency of Triboelectric Nanogenerators (TENGs) through improved materials and optimized designs. The key discoveries highlight notable progress in TENG materials, encompassing the utilization of natural resources, waste products, and environmentally friendly composites. These materials offer sustainable, cost-effective, and highly efficient solutions for energy harvesting purposes. The investigation further explores diverse applications of TENGs, such as powering self-sustaining sensors, wearable devices, and environmental monitoring systems. These applications underscore the versatility and potential of TENGs in revolutionizing self-sufficient electronic devices. The significance of this study lies in providing valuable insights into the present state of TENG research and proposing potential directions for future investigations. The findings greatly contribute to advancing and widely adopting TENG technology within the realm of renewable energy harvesting and self-powered systems.
