ADHD and dyslexia frequently co-occur, suggesting they may share some neurobiological similarities. These neurodevelopmental disorders are shaped not only by inherited genes but also by environmental factors experienced before birth. Traditionally, ADHD and dyslexia have been studied by focusing on either genetic or environmental factors alone. However, recent research highlights a more complex interaction, showing that both genetic inheritance and external conditions influence the development and progression of these disorders. Studies indicate that both ADHD and dyslexia involve atypical development in brain regions responsible for executive functioning, attention, and language processing, often linked to changes in dopamine signaling. This overlap showcases the common genetic and environmental influences that may impact cognitive control.
