Abstract

Dementia and Alzheimer's are two terms that are frequently used interchangeably when the conditions are not as binary as commonly perceived.  Due to the lack of conclusive diagnostic testing and coinciding of symptoms, distinguishing Frontotemporal dementia and Alzheimer's can be precarious. Current diagnoses are based on neuropsychological assessments, brain imaging, and identifying initial symptoms. There are no therapies that directly modify the disease. This review compares frontotemporal dementia and Alzheimer's disease from a general perspective while highlighting the significance of expanding public awareness and mending the bridge between medicine and society, gaining earlier recognition, precise diagnosis, and better care of FTD.
